GARAY'S COMMUNITY HEART, INC.
We are a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization currently catering to those in need in the city of Miami. We currently feed, provide clothing and living essentials to the homeless in Miami each holiday. We gather and create blessing bags - then caravan through the most popular areas for homeless people in Downtown. We usually bless about 150-200 people, depending on amount of donations received. People donate either items needed or monetary gifts.
Our goal is to build a shelter for runaway teenage mothers and troubled teens. Our plan is to assist them with child care, provide a safe home, and educate them to be successful, independent individuals. We want to break the cycle for these teens that feel like they didn't receive an opportunity because of their life surroundings.
In our city there is such a need to help young girls that at an early age become pregnant. In 2013, a total of 273,105 babies were born to women aged 15–19 years, for a live birth rate of 26.5 per 1,000 women in this age group. The U.S. teen pregnancy rate is substantially higher than in other western industrialized nations. Most of these girls live in low-income homes or with abusive family members.
